2009 State of the City Address

The Mayor gave her annual State of the City Address on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon.  For those who were unable to attend the luncheon you may read the Mayor's speech below.

Georgetown Stormwater Advisory Committee (GSWAC)

The City of Georgetown is holding a Storm Water Advisory Committee meeting on Monday, March 16th at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall on 100 Court Street. This committee will be given an update on the statewide permit renewal and the status of the local permit renewal, reviewing recent MCM activities, and discussing the stormwater program funding / City Budget and remaining activities for the City of Georgetown for the 2008-2009 permit year. Water Quality Education

The City of Georgetown and CDP Engineers will be conducting a demonstration of Rain Gardens and Rain Barrels.  This event will take place April 3, 2009 at 9:00 AM in the Georgetown Fire Department Station 3 parking lot.

Ice Storm Brush BLITZ!

Ice Storm Brush Blitz

Saturday, February 14, 2009.
8:00am-4:00pm

The Public Works Department with assistance from Cardome, Building Inspection, Code Enforcement, Fire and Police Department workers will be picking up brush on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Please have your brush at the curb by 8:00 a.m. and respect the following guidelines:


  • Brush needs to be cut up in 4 ft. sections.
  • If you bundle the brush, the bundle cannot weigh more than 50 lbs.
  • We will not pick up construction debree or other items on this day.
  • Whole, (Big) Trees will not be picked up.

We will be picking up tree limbs from the ice storm.

A "Self Dump" will also be available on Saturday, February 14, 2009. You can dump your tree limbs on that day only at the Lane's Run Business Park. Please follow the signs to instruct you of the dump location. If you have any further questions, please contact the Public Works Department, 502-863-9855.

All workers volunteering to assist with brush removal meet at the Public Works Department by 8:00 a.m
